December 2017 - Say YES!

I have been back now for over a month and I must say that although I was feeling home sick for both America and France, I decided that I am to finish all the projects that I have been meaning to complete and start my 2018 fresh! This was my goal!!

Creative Progress: I have been painting a painting a day and I was sooooo impressed at how many people commented on my work and bought it and from this, I have now had commissions so I am delighted as I set out to do this for myself and did not set out to sell more than one painting, not because of my ability, but because that was not my intent! Thank you everyone for your support!

I will be selling my work on the 9th December at the Vineyard Craft Day in St Albans! Come along as would be good to say hello!

Fitness Goals: I have been seeing results at the gym and although slow progress, I am so pleased to see that it is a result! gains! woop woop! Thank you Coach Alexander LeBoeuf for introducing me to the strong woman concept and forever inspiring me to continue with it. Where I used to hate the gym, I now love it and its changed my whole life!  CLICK HERE TO BECOME PART OF THE TEAM

Inspiring Others: My FINE ART PROJECTS book is now out and ready to buy. I am so blessed to have been able to finish it on time for the christmas! Over the past ten years of having the art business, I have always wanted to reach out to people who found it hard to draw, but to access the skills in a way that made them feel confident and within their reach. I have designed the book so parents, teachers and children over the age of 8 can create these projects. You can teach the step by step to a 5 year old child and see their face light up when they feel the accomplishment of completing a drawing, giving them satisfaction and self esteem! Art as elevated me into the person I am today. Without a creative outlet and I believe for many people, life becomes unfulfilling.

I hope you all have an amazing Christmas and New Year! This year for me, has been all about healing and growing from what happened in 2016. I have met so many beautiful souls on my travels! Impossible to name everyone....Jo, Andy, Fiona, Matt, for letting me stay at yours. From having the awesome Fighting Giants band play live to just a handful of us and reducing me to tears...! From the strange man who wanted to throw his shoe over board on the ferry to France, to the amazing woman, Diane who I met in a bar in America and taught me that I was enough. To Donna at the Bridge retreat who helped me regain my life back and realise we can achieve all that we want. The friends I have made along the way. Amber for always supporting me and continuing to be my soul sister and for Alex and his sister Sarah who gave me some of the most beautiful moments of my life, everyone at the gym, all my friends in England and America, My family for supporting and believing in me and to be quite frank, the universe. I have learnt so much about people, places, events and myself and I am so thankful to everyone around me past and present. Good and bad. Thank you. I am so glad to be alive and have the ability to rebuild my life again! Thank you x

Here I come 2018!!! lets do this!!! xxx

November 2017 - Paint a Painting a Day for 30 DAYS!!!

Screen Shot 2018-06-09 at 19.51.45.png

Here it is! My Paint A Painting A Day In 30 Days! I have been asked by so many people to do more cloud paintings so you'll be pleased to know that as of 1st November 2017. I will paint one painting a day and auction it off on EBay.

I am excited to see the response,  for myself to be disciplined enough to create 30 paintings in 30 days and also for people to be able to buy smaller pieces of my work which are more affordable. Each piece will be based on a sky and the feeling I have on that morning when I get up at 6.00am everyday, meditate and do my rituals. I am aiming on creating emotional pieces based on my thoughts for that day. I hope you all get inspired by my work and enjoy looking at the pieces!

Happy bidding :) xxx

October 2017 - Feels Like Home! ;)

I am back in America and it is awesome! I decided to give myself little painting projects and up my gymming routine. I always feel at home in America as well as France and it was so good to be back. I am here for a month and i am going to do as much as I can in terms of painting, gym, exploring and generally being myself!

PROGRESS OF MY OWN ARTWORK: I feel so alive here and I have ended up painting everything i could get hands on. I went to the local tip and decided to revamp these items. It was a lot of fun to just be silly with my art and experiment! I have not got of picture of it, but i painted the twin towers from Lord of the Rings on a pillar which looked amazing!

September 2017 - Time to Show my ARTWORK again!

Its my birthday Month and as always, I have taken on rather slightly more than I can chew, but why live small when you can aim big! This is the Month of going for it (again) ;) in terms of showing my work and going to America after the shows to experiment and explore again! I met so many amazing people at the shows. It was so good to network and talk to other people about their art. I throughly enjoyed painting live and speaking about my art. Thank you to everyone who came to see me and support me! I love you all xx

Screen Shot 2018-06-09 at 19.44.22.png

IDEAS, MEDIUMS, RECOMMENDATIONS: I have been using pigment colour powders a lot to sketch and work on rough ideas. Normally, I would hate the way it crumbles and is not of the consistency as a uniform one that I would of liked, but it works well with what I want it for and it is a great way to experiment and explore.  CLICK HERE TO BUY

PROGRESS OF MY OWN ARTWORK: I feel so alive and think I really pushed myself this month! I am so proud of myself for showing 'me' to the world. there was something so healing about having my artwork up for all to see. The comments and reactions from viewers were really helpful and interesting. i loved the way my work connected with people who really knew and felt their own personal response to it. I feel like for me, these shows were a therapy to my inner soul and now I feel ready to explore and develop the clouds more as so many people said they felt alive and evoked hope in them which was what i was trying to do with the figures, but it is quite fanny how the clouds are the very thing which inspires people more so.

August 2017 - Art Art Art!

Hello there everybody! Welcome back to my August blog!

This month has been all about art workshops that I have been running in St Albans! I set myself a goal of putting on as many workshops as I can regarding teaching children art. Already, it has been really productive and so fun seeing all my students again! My little inspirational artists! As always I have been centring myself by going to nature. It was raining most days and it was so amazing as i would end up being alone in the woods a lot and just breathing in the wonderful air and being around the trees that I love! This month has also been about putting my mindset into work in general as I wanted to buckle down and deliver the art workshops again to see how I felt doing all sessions again! As well as the workshops, I have been hard at work preparing for two shows in London where I will be exhibiting my artwork. On your marks, get set, go go go! ;)

Screen Shot 2018-06-09 at 19.35.56.png
Screen Shot 2018-06-09 at 19.36.07.png

IDEAS, MEDIUMS, RECOMMENDATIONS: Working with the children's workshops, I always used high quality materials which adults use as I think it is really important for the children to know that they are being introduced to mediums which makes them feel special. The main thing I love using are these awesome oil pastels! They go on as smooth as cake and the colours are so vibrant! The kids love them and they last a lot longer than other cheaper pastels!  CLICK HERE TO BUY

PROGRESS OF MY OWN ARTWORK: As I have said, I have been working hard to prepare for the two exhibitions that are coming up in September! Its been tight time wise, but very useful to work to a deadline as normally I do not have massive deadlines regarding my work. I have been working into the pictures that i started in Vienna. Adding detail and finishing them off. I am going to exhibit clouds as well, but I really feel compelled to show my body of 'bodies' to the world. Its like an inner calling where I know I need to have it visible to people in public whilst I am there explaining and collecting feedback. I feel so many people shy away from bodies in an Art Fair which I find quite strange as I have been bought up to embrace my body and be blessed to have one. All bodies all amazing and beautiful. I wish people would not be so ashamed of their body and feel 'dirty' having themselves naked.

July 2017 - Sassy Sussex......Awesome America.... ;)

Welcome back for Julys blog! Its been a busy month. I went to this amazing retreat in Sussex where I did yoga and decided to climb the largest hill I have ever seen, right after a huge dinner....(big mistake;) Straight after Sussex, I headed to America again as I wanted to follow up on a few leads about art and see friends there! It was so great being back! By now I had mastered the art of finding healthy food and gymming it up without killing myself in the process. This month I decided to challenge myself to the core of my fears, one of which was my first head stand in the sea. I was so scared of putting my head under water then I ended up doing many summer sorts under the water as well. Personal achievement for me thanks to the encouragement of others ;) I met so many inspiring people in bars that would tell me about their lives and what they were doing at my age etc. It was like having endless chats with my grandparents (my grandma is French and cannot speak a word of English and I am not yet fully fluent in French so conversation is a hug and a endless smiling) so it was very healing for the soul. I went to Cape Cod which was so breath taking and a Buddhist retreat that was incredible. I have never before in my life heard such beautiful silence. It was like being in another was so awesome I cried! All in all, I will be back as I think road tripping in America is calling me! I feel like this month has been a massive learning curve about myself and travelling. Doing new things have not only been scary, but so fulfilling and freeing. I love chatting to people on the plane and saying hi to the sales woman at duty free. I think everyone I meet has something to teach me and has a positive effect on me in some way and vice versa. I used to believe that the world was an unfriendly place, but I now know that it is the opposite. It is up to us to change our state of mind and our perception of things.

Screen Shot 2018-06-09 at 19.29.07.png
Screen Shot 2018-06-09 at 19.29.17.png

IDEAS, MEDIUMS, RECOMMENDATIONS: I have been using a lot of acrylic paint this month. I quite like the way it dries quicker as when travelling, its hard for oil paint to dry in enough time for me to then pack up and get on the plane. I am using it watered down to create the drips. I would say this is not my favourite medium, but it does the job for what I want it to do right now, given my location and size of artwork. CLICK HERE TO BUY

PROGRESS OF MY OWN ARTWORK: As well as my other work, I am mainly interested in the male human form this month. I like the way mens chests have that feel of safety for many women. I am looking at possibly doing a series of different chest paintings, small chests and big as I feel like they symbolise something for me right now. I had drafted in a few men from the gym to draw from life which is really useful. I like the phycological aspect of men working out for strength, look and health and what they view as perfection with their bodies. I wonder if any of us ever reach perfection look wise in our own eyes or accept that we are perfect as we are already. For these studies I am using acrylic paint on thick paper. I really really enjoy experimenting with form and colour right now!

June 2017 - Feeling the Fear & Doing it Anyway

Hello everyone! I am writing this from my apartment in Vienna, having just gone out in the blazing sunshine in my flip-flops, walking miles to find a food shop that was open as I arrived on a public holiday! All I could find was a local petrol station where I got a frozen pizza!!! I cannot count the blisters on my feet!!?! I am feeling really motivated here. I spent the first week pretty much working my little butt off and the rest of this time, setting more goals. I have been eating really healthy foods, (apart from 'THAT' pizza) :-0 I now have a daily intense exercise routine and morning rituals that I am finding really beneficial for, not only my body, but my mind. I have been creating many paintings for the two art fairs that I am taking part in in September. Details at the bottom of this blog. I am also preparing the kids art workshops for the summer which has been really satisfying! I have set up a YouTube channel to help children have access to learning how to draw: CLICK HERE to view and subscribe.

I feel it is important to share with you, that being here, although very productive and inspiring, it has increased my fear and doubt levels as I am alone for the whole month here and I have set myself lots of goals which is motivating, but also brings quite a lot of doubt as its always easy for us to doubt something that, although feels right, is scary as there is a chance of failure! I am working hard on changing my perceptions and mis-guided beliefs about myself from the past and embracing the 'me' that is truly capable of producing the impossible. Its impossible until you achieve it!

Screen Shot 2018-06-09 at 19.22.33.png
Screen Shot 2018-06-09 at 19.22.20.png

IDEAS, MEDIUMS, RECOMMENDATIONS: I have been experimenting with mixed media and watercolour pencil. I love the way i can 'delete' the image by sticking paper layers over my drawings and then using watercolour pencil over it to enhance the image. If the image is wet with the glue, the pencil will be applied almost like a satisfying! CLICK HERE TO BUY Have a go yourself as these high quality pencils are a dream to use! If you use poor versions of the medium, I feel like you actually cannot do your best work as you are not committing to investing in your artwork.

PROGRESS OF MY OWN ARTWORK: Like I said above, I am using mixed media and enjoying it! Its great to use my small sketch book when travelling as well as taking my slightly smaller than A3 pad of water-colour paper. Its thick and its small enough to pack into my suitcase. At the moment I am exploring the galleries and the architecture of Vienna and translating that inspiration into my own work by being slightly more sporadic and colourful which feels good!

May 2017 - Lets Do this!

Hello everyone! Welcome to my MAY BLOG! I was in tears leaving my wonderful France in April as it seemed so much like home to me, but onwards and upwards to Massachusetts, America!

I am currently sitting in a funky music bar in America writing this. I have bought my sketch book with me as well as my laptop and pillow....I have realised that if I have my pillow with me anywhere I travel, then I will be fine! I am hitting the gym hard, (twice a day) this month, as when in America, do as American's do.....whatever that is...(decided not to eat loads of fast food) haha

Screen Shot 2018-06-09 at 19.01.45.png

Massachusetts is awesome and people are so friendly here! They have become like my little family. I went hiking with a great group of people to take pictures of views for inspiration and eat tasty food. I played Corn Hole (Its a game ;)) and sung along to the live music playing in the bars. I am making so many good, positive, inspirational friends here and I am seeing so many amazing places! I knew there was a reason why I was named after Emmylou Harris and it is not for her singing voice, but I have a strong pull towards America! The mountains and beautiful tress are breath taking....Alas...I did not find my Lumberjack...;) While travelling, I have noticed that I no longer feel like I should be somewhere else, doing something else and living not existing like I did when I lived in England and its such a nice feeling to just be happy where ever I am at that time, and know that this is living for me (Just thought I would share that revelation of mine)

I think being in America has made me think about how connection with others is so important. We all need to connect and belong and being here makes it easier than most places I have been. P.s I managed to rescue two baby birds that had fell out of a gutter that they were nesting in, really high up, in the gym and ended up getting everybody involved which was strangely really fun! Jim took a ladder and put the birds back whilst Tom and Carl and of course my soul sister Amber helped. We came back the next day and the birds had died which was sad, but it made me realise that sometimes things like that have to happen to remind you that people care and that we all want to be involved and important in other peoples lives. Made me feel so warm inside.

IDEAS, MEDIUMS, RECOMMENDATIONS: I have been sketching with chalk pastel again whilst away in America. I just cannot get enough of them and found another cheapish outlet to get them -  CLICK HERE TO BUY. I love them so much as they blend like a dream and I cant stop using them time and time again! Like I said in my other blog, use hair spray to fix. I carry a travel sized can so I can go abroad with it more easily than a large can!

PROGRESS OF MY OWN ARTWORK: I am loving taking the time to sketch on the beach and practise getting body parts right! Due to size, I am working in my sketch book for all this month as travelling on a plane with a huge canvas is not easy. I am trying to do more than four hours a day as practise makes perfect!

April 2017 - Painting Like A Crazed Animal

Welcome back....Im currently writing this in France, having just come back from the most amazing life changing retreat in Somerset. I can proudly say that I have finally got back my much needed MOJO that I was searching for and I am back with a passion and force!

I am not sure where to start regarding France! Having a French mother, I am accustom to some of the culture, people and food, but this place has simply inspired me! It is 10 mins from the beach and I drove my own car alone several long hours to get here. Its been a journey like I have never experienced before and its definitely helping my art develop. Ive become my own best friend and its just as well with 7 hours driving and 9 hours on the ferry! The Markets here are so wonderful as everything is fresh and the best thing is nobody can talk much English so I am brushing up on my French whether I like it or not! It has been sunny everyday I have been here and the countryside is breath taking. You hear about France being amazing, but for the first time in a long time I feel like I am home. Dont get me wrong, I have had some really bad days, but its counteracted by the beauty of this place and just being alive, breathing it all in in the moment. I can be totally me here and nobody thinks its weird! ;)

Screen Shot 2018-06-09 at 18.56.22.png
Screen Shot 2018-06-09 at 18.56.30.png

IDEAS, MEDIUMS, RECOMMENDATIONS: Apart from loving France...I have been painting ALOT and I am loving these water soluble oil paints from Winsor & Newton CLICK HERE TO BUY. They are amazing as they not only dry faster, but I can almost use them like water colour and they are great for using lightly on thick sketch paper if you feel the need to develop, practise and make loads of studies like a frenzied psychotic possessed individual like me...;) Some people think only Oil is the way forward, but I just think do what works for you as these are still Oil paints in its raw basic makeup. Let me know if they work for you!

PROGRESS OF MY OWN ARTWORK: I have been yearning to paint a certain subject which I am not going to unveil in its entirety until I have completed the whole LARGE CANVAS series that I am working on, but I think the sketches give you a good idea of what, in part, I am going for...I have been loving using my sketch book to try things out and having the time and freedom is such a luxury as it is not something I have had before. I am REALLY digging deep and creating my raw passion and soul into my work and it feels so good. Very scary, full of artist doubts, but I know it has to be done as I cant stop thinking about painting it until it has been created onto canvas!

March 2017 - Exploration = Motivation & goes... :)

I hope you have all had a good March and now we are coming to the end of the month the sunshine is making everything seem better!! I have been busy sketching away and exploring the lands of Africa. Beautiful place, but quite 'dicey' in areas! I did a lot of meditation, walking up mountains and general exploring which has been quite life changing in a most unexpected way :s

INSPIRATION ON MY TRAVELS: I travelled to Africa to see the awesome animals just like David Shepherd did! I was inspired by his works of art and wanted to see what it would actually be like to sit near lions and draw them! (Without being eaten by them..;s) It was beautiful and gave me a sense of a bigger wider world out there. Just what I was looking for in terms of inspiration!

Screen Shot 2018-06-09 at 18.51.43.png

IDEAS, MEDIUMS, RECOMMENDATIONS: As I needed something portable and easy to travel with I went out and bought a cute little water colour travel paint set which was so good to use! To buy CLICK HERE. I also took with me the less convenient medium, chalk pastel as its a great dry medium to use over the top of wet and a wonderful way to create texture with the animals fur. I had to fix the chalk with hair spray as it would have been pretty messy travelling back with it without fixing it! I find hair spray is cheaper and works just as good if not better than an artist fixative! Chalk pastel - To buy, CLICK HERE.

PROGRESS OF MY OWN ARTWORK: Whilst in Africa, I created some simple quick studies of the beautiful wild animals. I loved drawing from life just like figure drawing as the light changes as I progress with my studies. I think I had a thing for Giraffes! I really enjoyed carefully sketching the animals, painting them in and then getting down and dirty adding the pastel over the top which is where I start to enjoy myself as love getting into it and covering my whole hands...;)
