February 2017 - Its nearly Spring.........almost.....;)

Daylight is getting slightly longer and I cannot wait until Winter slips away again! Its been a tough Winter month both professionally and personally and I hope for this year to be full of productivity and possibly more sunshine!

INSPIRATION ON MY TRAVELS: I have not been away anywhere abroad this month as I am moving so I can travel more and in all the chaos I have been to a gig that really was very heart felt to listen to. It gave me the inspiration to go home and create some images on how I personally feel right now. Check out the song as it was very special to hear a father sing about his children live without a microphone. Very nice moment.

IDEAS, MEDIUMS, RECOMMENDATIONS: I am loving this water colour paper CLICK HERE TO BUY and these awesome inks are what I have been using lately with my therapeutic pieces of artwork. I love the way the ink drips and are so permanent! CLICK HERE TO BUY I also like using mediums that are not too expensive when I am experimenting as I always seem to worry about wasting materials which then defeats the whole object of trying to be free flowing with what you are producing even if it does end up becoming 100 sheets of studies!!

PROGRESS OF MY OWN ARTWORK: I have been having fun experimenting with my own emotions this month and its been quite therapeutic.  Im really big on emotions at the moment and seeing how i can channel them and use them in my own work. I think i will concentrate on the whole body next as I love the line, shape and form of the human body. It is so beautiful and real. What you see is what you get unless its PhotoShopped! :( In these pieces below i was mainly concentrating on time, fear and pain which was quite intense! ;)

January 2017 - The process of healing and inspiring an artist

Introduction :)

Hello everyone! This is my first blog on my Emmylou ART site as I was blogging nicely on my old website (EmmylouArtist) before it got hacked and I lost everything so I am starting afresh here and it feels right as its 2017 and the start of something new and beautiful!

I am a London based artist who is planning on traveling the world this year while taking my canvases with me. The idea is to gain more inspiration along my travels and take you along the journey with me. I will be visiting places of interest as and when I feel to and I will be writing a monthly blog about it all to not only inspire you in your own artwork, but give you a few tips that i have learnt along the way regarding the use of mediums within my work. I am a private art teacher and have been so for over 15 years. I have owned my own art teaching business for 10 years tutoring both adults and children on how to create their very own masterpiece so I would like to share some of my knowledge with you as well and let you into my world of creating my art and what exhibitions may be of use to you. In a nutshell I want to explore and share the beautiful inspirational things with you that this world has to offer so you can enhance your own artwork and inspirations.... so here goes!

INSPIRATION ON MY TRAVELS: I recently took a short trip to the Canary Islands in hope of gaining some much needed sunshine as I think I suffer badly from SAD. I went alone and returned a few days ago having had the most healing time I have ever had on a break away. It helped me come back feeling motivated and alive again! Below are the images that I took that really made me feel at one with nature.

IDEAS, MEDIUMS, RECOMMENDATIONS: At the moment I am really addicted to sketching in water soluble graphite pencil which seems to be hard to come by in any normal art shop! It has a great soft application and helps me create my much needed water drips effect by adding as much water as I like as it also acts some what like a eraser when using too much water. If you are rough sketching or planning to work on top of, this is a brilliant medium to use. I buy mine online - TO BUY WATER SOLUBLE GRAPHITE: CLICK HERE - Give it a go and let me know what you think!

PROGRESS OF MY OWN ARTWORK: I am creating a series of 'body sketches' which I am to mount and exhibit some time this year. I love the beauty and fluidity of the human form. Its both fragile and strong which is how I feel most of the time! These are some of the short studies that I am working on at the moment:
